A 42-year-old female of no fixed address has been charged with assault, mischief under $5000 and failing to comply with her Probation Order by Belleville Police after she started throwing objects at passing vehicles.

“On the 3rd of July at 1:15pm, Belleville Police responded to the area of Bell Blvd and the Quinte Mall for a report of a female who was trespassing,” Belleville Police said in a release about the incident. “Police…located the female who had [recently] departed the property.  While speaking to the female, she became agitated and started throwing pine cones at one of the officers so in an effort to de-escalate the situation, officers departed,” police said.

“One officer remained in the area keeping an eye on the female,” police continued. “The female then proceeded to throw rocks at passing vehicles and assaulted a female who was walking nearby…The officer immediately attended to the female and placed her under arrest.  While in the back of the police cruiser, the female then damaged equipment which was installed in the cruiser.”

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.   Following her arrest, the woman was held for a bail hearing.
