Vaughan man charged with impaired during RIDE program near Sandbanks

OPP in Prince Edward County conducted a RIDE program over that weekend near Sandbanks Provincial Park, which resulted in one driver being arrested for impaired driving.

The RIDE was set up on County Road 11, at Kleinsteuber Park Road, late in the afternoon of Saturday, June 15.

“Officers conducted a test on one driver with the Approved Screening Device,” police state in a media release. “As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.”

Daniel Vela Torres, 60, of Vaughan, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on July 3, 2024.

The accused’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
