Two traffic alerts to be aware of in Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County has announced two upcoming projects that will affect local traffic.

On Monday, June 17, temporary speed humps will be installed on Union Road between County Road 2 and Highway 62. The county says this installation aims to calm traffic on the collector street, which has a speed limit of 40 km/h, with 20 km/h signs on the “S” curve. The Traffic Advisory Committee approved this measure, and the Council ratified the decision in September 2023.

The speed humps will be maintained during the summer and removed in winter to facilitate snow removal. The installation process will take approximately one day, reducing road access to single-lane traffic and causing minor delays.

Separately, A1 Plumbing will be working on private property at 72 Mary Street in Picton on Friday, May 31, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. This work may cause traffic and pedestrian disruptions. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution and follow traffic control measures. Heavy equipment in the area will limit visibility and increase noise levels.
