Coach Derek Smith of the Trenton Golden Hawks has announced a key addition to their roster, Caleb Van de Ven, as the team gears up for the 2023-24 hockey season.

Van de Ven, previously with the Soo Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League, brings valuable experience from his 38-game stint last season. His earlier junior season with the NOJHL’s Powassan VooDoos saw him amass 32 points in 42 games.

Smith says, “Van de Ven will make our back end even stronger. He has not even turned 18 year, which means we have lots of time to make him an even stronger defencemen.

“He brings up a few years of junior experience already,” he added.  “Caleb is a big, smooth skating d-man, that will add offence from the blue line.  He has a lot of potential to be an elite player at this level.”
