Three charged in two Quinte West stabbings

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they are investigating two stabbings that took place over the weekend.

OPP state in a Tuesday, June 4 media release that on Friday, May 31, officers responded to a report of assault near the local arena; there, they located an individual with stab wounds. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Two youths were arrested at the scene and charged with numerous offences.

Both youths will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Then, on Saturday, June 1, members of Quinte West OPP responded to a disturbance and assault behind the shopping centre on Dundas Street East in the City of Quinte West.     

Officers arrived and located an individual with multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The investigation resulted in an arrest a short time later.

Trevor Holtzhaur, 18, of Belleville, is charged with: 

  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose

Charges have not been proven in court.

Police say accused remains in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
