Three arrested after dine-and-dash investigation uncovers firearms offences

Three individuals are facing serious charges following an incident of dining and dashing in Quinte West.

On Sunday, Jul. 7, 2024, Quinte West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft at a local restaurant where three individuals left without paying and also allegedly stole tableware. The suspects were later involved in a single vehicle collision, veering off the road and into a ditch.

OPP arrested three individuals and seized a loaded firearm at the scene.

Tara Gage, 26, from Oshawa, faces charges including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, theft under $5000, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition, food and lodging fraud, failure to comply with an undertaking, and passenger failure to properly wear a seatbelt.

Nathan Lopez, 26, from Toronto, was charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, theft under $5000, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition, food and lodging fraud, failure to comply with a probation order (two counts), failure to comply with an undertaking, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and driver failure to properly wear a seatbelt.

Andrew Vivian, 19, from Clarington, faces charges including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, theft under $5000, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition, food and lodging fraud, failure to comply with a probation order, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and passenger failure to properly wear a seatbelt.

All three accused individuals remain in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for this week at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
