Motorists across the Quinte region can expect another week of construction and traffic delays, with ongoing highway work around Marysville, Shannonville and Madoc, along with several municipal projects in Belleville, Quinte West and Prince Edward County.

On Highway 49 near Marysville, motorists may encounter daily single-lane closures between approximately 310 metres south of Depot Road and just north of County Road 15. Speeds are reduced to 60 km/h during the work, with delays of up to five minutes expected.

Nearby on Highway 401, daily shoulder closures continue in both directions for approximately two kilometres on either side of Highway 49. Shoulder closures are also in place on the on- and off-ramps at Marysville Road.

On Highway 401 near Shannonville, nightly single-lane closures and daytime shoulder closures continue in both directions between Wyman Road and the Shannonville Road interchange. Speeds are reduced to 80 km/h through the construction zone, with delays of up to 10 minutes possible.

Farther north, Highway 62 remains under construction between approximately one kilometre south of Slab Street and 600 metres north of Shoreline Lane. Single-lane closures with flagging may be required, with speeds reduced to 60 km/h during flagging operations and delays of up to 15 minutes possible.

In Belleville, culvert replacement work continues on Airport Parkway. One lane of traffic is being maintained while crews complete roadway excavation and culvert work. The city says two full weekend closures are anticipated later in October, with dates to be announced.

Reconstruction also continues on Octavia and Henry streets. Underground work has been completed and crews are now working on curbs, sidewalks, retaining walls and road surfaces. Temporary road or lane closures may be required as the work progresses.

Work is also underway on College Street East and Jamieson Bone Road in Belleville’s Northeast Industrial Park. The project includes new sidewalks, drainage improvements, road rehabilitation and railway crossing upgrades. Roads are generally expected to remain open, although temporary traffic disruptions and short-term closures on College Street East may be required.

In Quinte West, a new lane closure is scheduled to begin on Dufferin Avenue during the week of Sept. 28 as the next phase of the Trenton trunk sewer project gets underway.

The southbound lane will be closed from Coulter Crescent to 104 Dufferin Ave. for approximately 12 weeks. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane, with temporary signals allowing vehicles to travel in alternating directions. Access to Prince Charles Public School and businesses in the construction area will be maintained.

North Trent Street in Frankford also remains closed to through traffic between Adelaide Street and Huffman Road for sanitary sewer, gravity sewer and road reconstruction work. Local and emergency access is being maintained, with the closure expected to continue into October.

In Prince Edward County, rehabilitation continues on County Road 49. Crews are working south from County Road 15, with sections of the road being rehabilitated in approximately one- to two-kilometre stretches. At least one lane of traffic is being maintained in alternating directions while work is underway.

Finnegan Drive in Picton remains closed at County Road 49 while crews connect new sanitary and storm sewer infrastructure. The closure began Sept. 22 and is expected to last about two weeks. Access to the Wellings of Picton and nearby community mailboxes is being maintained through the H.J. McFarland Memorial Home entrance.
