Quinte West man facing multiple charges in King Street drug use investigation

A Quinte West man has been charged with obstructing police and possessing drugs following a report of drug use in Trenton.

In a media release, police state that on April 1, 2024 at approximately 4 p.m., OPP received a report of drug use on King Street, Trenton. 

“Officers located the individual, who provided a false name,” police say in a media release.

Once officers were able to ID the male suspect, it was determined that he was wanted by Coburg Police. As a result of the subsequent arrest and search, suspected crystal methamphetamine and morphine were seized. 

Joseph, VelekeE, 33 years old, of Quinte West has been charged with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

Charhes have not been proven in court.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 19, 2024. He was then transported to the Coburg Police Service for the execution of the warrant.
