Portion of West Street in Wellington to be closed Tuesday, March 5

A portion of West Street in Wellington will be closed Tuesday, March 5.

The Water and Wastewater Department of Prince Edward County has announced plans for sewer lateral repairs on West Street, Wellington, scheduled for Tuesday, March 5. The repairs are set to begin at 7 a.m. and expected to end by 5 p.m. on the same day.

West Street, spanning from Wellington Main Street to Noxon Avenue, will be inaccessible to through traffic during the repair period. However, local traffic will still be permitted. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid congestion in the construction area.

Residents in the vicinity should anticipate heightened noise levels and reduced visibility due to the presence of heavy equipment throughout the repair process. Despite these inconveniences, the quality of water and sanitary sewer services will remain unaffected. The water supply will remain safe for consumption throughout the construction period.

In the event that customers experience discoloured water resulting from construction vibrations, it is recommended to flush the cold water tap nearest to the water meter until the water runs clear after the completion of the work.
