Police investigating reported armed robbery in downtown Belleville

Belleville police are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into a reported armed robbery that took place in the city’s downtown on Sunday evening.

According to reports, officers responded to a distress call at approximately 11 p.m. The call was made following an incident where a man was reportedly robbed on the street. The victim informed the police that he was accosted by two men, one brandishing a baseball bat and the other wielding a knife. During the confrontation, the assailants allegedly forcibly took cash from the victim.

Fortunately, no physical injuries were sustained by the victim during the altercation. Law enforcement authorities have urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
