Planned power outage, road closure for Quinte West coming later this month

Hydro One has announced a planned power outage in the east end of Quinte West scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 26, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The outage is essential for Hydro One to carry out necessary upgrades in the area, affecting a significant portion of the city.

The outage area is delineated as follows:

  • RCAF Road east to Wallbridge-Loyalist/Avondale Road
  • Hamilton Road south to Old Highway 2

Residents residing within these boundaries are advised to prepare for the outage by turning off all appliances and ensuring their cell phones are fully charged before the power interruption. Additionally, residents are encouraged to keep their refrigerator and freezer doors closed for as long as possible to prevent spoilage of perishable items.

During the outage period, traffic signals within the affected area may be non-operational. Motorists are urged to treat intersections with powerless traffic signals as they would an intersection with all-way stop signs, exercising caution and following traffic rules to ensure safety on the roads.

In conjunction with the planned power outage, a section of Aikins Road, spanning from approximately 400 to 496 Aikins Rd., will be closed to through traffic on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 5:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Hydro One crews will be on site to complete the necessary upgrades during this period.
