No charges laid in single vehicle rollover on Old Highway 2

A rollover on Old Highway 2 in the early hours of Tuesday, Jan. 30 has prompted the Belleville Police Service to remind residents of the importance of driving with caution in potentially icy conditions.

Police report in a media release that at about 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, officers and paramedics attended to a single motor vehicle collision on Old Highway 2, just west of Mitchell Road. Upon arrival, emergency services found that the vehicle had veered into the ditch, collided with a hydro pole, and subsequently overturned.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Old Highway 2 was briefly closed as authorities worked to remove the vehicle from the site.

No charges were filed as a result of the collision.

In light of the occurrence, Belleville police took the opportunity to remind motorists about the unpredictable nature of highway conditions during this time of the year. Drivers are urged to anticipate icy conditions, particularly when temperatures decrease.
