Months-long Quinte West theft investigation leads to recovery of over $30,000 worth of stolen goods
Approximately $30,000 worth of stolen vehicles and tools has been recovered as part of an investigation into several thefts in Trenton and the surrounding area, Ontario Provincial Police say.
According to Quinte West OPP, officers investigated several thefts over the past few months and determined that multiple incidents were connected to the same suspect.
On Aug. 18, members of the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team and Quinte West detachment executed a search warrant at a property in Consecon.
Police say officers recovered a side-by-side utility vehicle, an all-terrain vehicle and a quantity of tools. Ammunition was also seized from the property.
As a result of the investigation, Reian Wallace, 28, of Consecon, was charged with:
- Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
- Failing to comply with a probation order
- Theft of electricity or gas
Charges have not been proven in court.
“Three separate investigations were linked to the accused which led to the execution of the warrant. Each of these involved thefts from a business,” the OPP’s Erin Cranton told Quinteist in response to questions. “There are additional occurrences that continue to be investigated as possibly being linked as well.”
Wallace was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Oct. 1.
