Five charged after occupants threatened, cash stolen during home invasion in Quinte West: OPP

Five people are facing a long list of charges after police say armed individuals entered a Quinte West home, threatened the occupants with a conducted energy weapon and stole cash.

Quinte West OPP responded to a report of a robbery in progress at a residence at about 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.

Police say five armed individuals had entered the home and threatened the occupants with a conducted energy weapon (CEW) before taking cash.

Officers responded to the residence and located and arrested all five suspects at the scene.

A prohibited CEW device and a CEW cartridge were seized during the investigation, according to police.

The Quinte West OPP Crime Unit assisted with the investigation.

When asked by Quinteist to provide more details, including the area of Quinte West the incident took place in, whether it is believed to be a targeted attack and whether anyone was injured, Provincial Constable Andrew Howat said no further information can be released.

The below charges have not been proven in court.

Cody Aldrich, 38, of Quinte West, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Break and enter
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, two counts

Baron White, 29, of Consecon, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Break and enter
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, two counts

Kristian Rittwage, 36, of Brighton, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Break and enter
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

Robert Glousher, 35, of Frankford, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Break and enter
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

Jesse Steacy, 33, of Colborne, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Break and enter
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance

All five accused were held in custody pending bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
