Driver caught going 94 km/h in 50 zone on College Street West, Belleville

A 21-year-old had his vehicle impounded and his driver’s license seized for a month after he was caught going nearly twice the speed limit on a Belleville city street.

In a media release, the Belleville Police Service says their Traffic Safety Unit was out enforcing the Highway Safety Act on city roads on Thursday, March 14.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a traffic officer was conducting radar on a stretch of College Street West when a silver sedan was clocked at a high rate of speed.

Police say the vehicle was being operated at 94 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone.

The driver, a 21-year-old, was charged with Stunt Driving. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and driver’s licence seized for a month.
