County Marathon returns Sunday with rolling road closures across Prince Edward County

Motorists in Prince Edward County are being advised to plan ahead for rolling road closures as the County Marathon returns this weekend.
The 23rd annual County Marathon and Half Marathon will take place Sunday, Oct. 4, bringing runners, volunteers and spectators to communities along the race route.
The full marathon will begin in Wellington and finish at the fairgrounds in Picton.
Road closures will be implemented on a rolling basis, with roads reopening as runners and race operations clear each section of the course.
Traffic control will be coordinated by race organizers, volunteers and members of the Prince Edward County OPP.
Police are asking residents who live along the route, as well as motorists travelling through the area, to plan trips around anticipated closure periods and avoid the race route where possible.
Drivers should allow additional travel time, consider alternate routes and follow directions from police officers, traffic-control personnel and race marshals.
OPP ask motorists to use extra caution around runners, volunteers and others involved in the event, and for patience as temporary closures are implemented throughout the day.
