Belleville, Quinte West residents facing drug charges following Trenton traffic stop

Two people are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Trenton on Oct. 3.

On Oct. 3, at approximately 8 p.m., the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted by Quinte West OPP officers, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Byron Street, Trenton, as part of a drug trafficking investigation. As a result, two people were arrested and a quantity of suspected cocaine was confiscated.

Karakwontonh Maracle, 22 years old, from Belleville, was charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
Possession of property obtained by crime
Fail to comply with release order

Andrea Pelrine, 27 years old, from Quinte West, was charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
Possession of property obtained by crime
Fail to comply with release order – Two counts

Charges have not been proven in court.

Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
