Belleville police launch homicide investigation after man killed in stabbing at local business

A 23-year-old man is dead and a 30-year-old man is in Kingston hospital with injuries following a stabbing at a North Front Street business in Belleville on the night of Friday, Jan. 5, Belleville police report.

In a media release, police say officers were called to a business located at 320 North Front Street shortly after midnight after reports that multiple people were stabbed.

“Two males, both from Belleville, were transported to hospital where a 23-year-old man was pronounced deceased,” the release reads. “The second male, 30, was subsequently transported to Kingston hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.”

Police say the name of the deceased is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

Staff Sergeant Jeremy Ashley told Quinteist that no arrests have been made in this incident. The “investigation is ongoing at this point,” Ashley said.

The Belleville Police Criminal Investigations Division with the assistance of the Forensic Investigations Unit are investigating.
