Belleville Police say they are continuing to investigate a report of a suspicious package at the Shorelines Casino, but that nothing suspicious was found during a search.

“On the 28th of June at 4:47pm, the Belleville Police Service received notice of a bomb threat that had been received at the Shorelines Casino in Belleville,” said Jeff Geen Staff Sergeant with Belleville Police in response to inquiries from the Quinteist.

“Members of the Belleville Police Service and Belleville Fire Department attended.”

According to Geen, Belleville Police worked with Shorelines Casino staff to safely evacuate the building and Bell Boulevard was closed to traffic in the area of the casino during the incident.

“A thorough search of the building was conducted and nothing suspicious was located,” Geen confirmed.

The casino was re-opened to the public shortly after the search and Belleville Police cleared the area at approximately 6:30 p.m.
