Belleville police catch two drivers travelling over 80 km/h in 40 km/h zone on Harmony Road

Police in Belleville nabbed two drivers travelling more than twice the speed limit in a Community Safety Zone on Harmony Road on Monday, Jan. 22.

In a Belleville Police Service media release, police state that at about 11 a.m., an officer was monitoring the speed of traffic in the area, when they observed a vehicle travelling at 82 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone. As a result, a 49-year-old driver was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed. The driver was issued a summons for a traffic court date, their licence was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Later in the day, at 3:08 p.m., police were continuing to monitor the speed of traffic on Harmony Road in the Community Safety Zone when an officer observed a vehicle travelling at 85km/h the 40km/h zone. As a result, a 48-year-old driver was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed. The driver was likewise issued a summons for a traffic court date, their driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
