Belleville police arrest 73-year-old for impaired driving after two-vehicle collision

At 3:25 pm yesterday (Nov. 20), the Belleville Police Service responded to a call reporting a two-vehicle collision in a business parking lot on Bell Boulevard.

Police responded to the scene and their inquiries led to the arrest of one of the drivers on suspicion of impaired driving. The individual, identified as 73-year-old Sergio Remirez from Belleville, was taken into custody and transported to the police headquarters for further interrogation.

Upon the conclusion of their investigation, Belleville police charged Remirez with impaired driving and being over the 80mgs limit. Charges have not been proven in court. He was subsequently released on an undertaking, slated to appear in court in December 2023.

As a result of the incident, Remirez had his vehicle impounded for a duration of seven days and his driver’s license suspended for 90 days.
