Belleville City Council has approved a new collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 907, which represents the city’s inside and outside workers.

The agreement, covering January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027, includes wage increases of 5.0% in 2024, 3.5% in 2025, and 3.0% in both 2026 and 2027. A press release explains that this agreement was reached through collaborative discussions aimed at achieving a fair and balanced outcome that aligns with the city’s commitment to a productive and respectful work environment.

Additional agreed-upon items include the realignment of work groups for a more cohesive agreement and enhanced benefits and improvements to long-term disability (LTD), aimed at supporting recruitment and retention efforts.

CUPE Local 907 ratified the agreement with its members on May 14.
