Arrests made in Quinte West stabbing

Following requests for public assistance in its investigation, the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has now arrested two people in connection with a stabbing near Front Street in the City of Quinte West.

The serious assault occurred in the early morning of Sunday, Jun. 30, 2024, around 3:00 a.m. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries caused by an edged weapon, OPP said.

“Later that day, members of the Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team, as well as the OPP Canine Unit, assisted by Quinte West OPP members, executed search warrants at two separate residences. One adult and one youth were arrested,” OPP confirmed in a statement.

Isaiah Nickerson, 18 years old, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Aggravated assault
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Disguise with intent
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Pointing a firearm

A second party, a youth who cannot be named, was also arrested and has been charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Theft under $5000
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Both of the suspects remain in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
